Tudor Gheorghe - Concert
“La Margine de imperii” is the last concert of one of the most genuine Romanian singer, Tudor Gheroghe. When Tatiana suggested to go for the tickets, I jumped in without any hesitation. There was a long time since, we both wanted to go to a concert of this artist. This concert was special, because it presented new-old songs, from Bucovina, the place where me and Tatiana where born. The singer received a book that contained over 400 songs from Bucovina, gathered at the beginning of the XX century, by some Austrians sent by the Austro-Hungarian Empire which ruled the region at the time. 2008 Bucharest, NATO Summit
Last week, Bucharest was the host for the biggest NATO summit according to this source. The event was supported by the Romanian state and by Bucharest inhabitants. I won’t write anything that can be found in the news papers. It is true, that Bucharest was cleaned and beautified before the summit, and it is true that the activity of the capital was affected. But also is true that the event was a success. More abut the back stage here.
I was amazed to read a blog entry like this, where people that are characterized to be smart are talking about the event like it was just another Romanian fiasco, and Romania is a second hand country. I can’t say that I’m very proud about being Romanian, but I can say that I’m prouder after this event. You can’t escape from a mentality of a loser by whining about how things are. May be, this is the faith of Romanians. The is a Romanian folklore poem called “Mioritza“, that expresses some how the pitch of the Romanian soul: looking at the facts without having a reaction, contemplating is a bless and a curse, or may be it’s like this?
Some how I felt at this summit that some things are changing, that we can prove to be good hosts, like we like to think about us and we prove to be able to use the second biggest building in the world The House of the People, to its real value.
Congratulations Romania & Bucharest!
